Finding rebirth from a pile ashes has been an underlying theme in all of Nick Fede's music for as long as he can remember...until now. "What We Are" focuses on the creation of those ashes. If "Bend + Break" was a gentler morning-type record, "What We Are" is its late-night brother. It combines loud guitars, edgy lyrics, and bold production for a truly raucous experience. This is a record that should be played LOUD. The lyrics and arrangements are in your face, direct, and raw. And that's exactly what Nick intended.

Recorded from 2018 through 2020 in Nick's home studio, "What We Are" began as a truly solo escape in direct response to the many transitions happening in his personal life. As the project came to a close, it took a turn toward true collaboration. Friends Bill Barry, Rachel Fanning, Graham Mellor, Nicole Ellen Gowan, and Matt Cronin were all brought in for the finishing touches. "What We Are" would not sound the way it does without their contributions.
